Indicator: Climate Risk

Status

Available on Project Basis

Description

Assesses likelihood and potential impact of climate-related hazards using IPCC climate models and scenarios up to 2100

Unit

Risk metrics for different hazards (e.g., temperature extremes, precipitation changes, drought, flood, sea level rise, fires)

Temporal Resolution

20-year intervals up to 2100, with scenarios for 1.5°C, 1.5°C-3.2°C, and 3.2°C-5.4°C emissions pathways

Spatial Resolution

25km for most metrics, with some variation by hazard type

Data

Data from 111 climate models and 470 climate simulations used by the IPCC, calibrated locally for spatial detail

Method

Analyzes multiple climate hazards including precipitation patterns, air temperature extremes, drought and flood risk, sea level rise, and fire risk. Different locations receive risk profiles based on local conditions (e.g., proximity to rivers, soil types) and climate scenarios
